Saina Rocked!!!

It was a battle of two giants yesterday in the Finals of Hong Kong Open Super Series. The Asian Champion vs the Commonwealth Champion. Wang Shixian vs Saina Nehwal  The match saw Saina bagging the Super Series tittle for the fourth time this year.

However victory did not come easy for Saina.  She was clearly nervous and intimidated by Shixian in the first game . Who wouldn’t when faced with such opponent and moreover from China. We all know how they play and how sticky the situation could be.  Although Saina lost in the first game, she pulled through one point after another in the second game. It was overwhelming to see her take the lead, 5-0, in the rubber set. Saina played her strategies well and forced Shixian to make errors after errors. The more than an hour match kept me glued to my seat and every moment was nail biting.

Finally it was victory for Saina. She triumphed with a 15-21 21-16 21-17 win over the third seed Shixian.

2. Very focused and not easily distracted
3. Good stamina
4. Has strategy and plays tactics well
5. Sound anticipation of her opponent’s moves

Some polishing on her edge smashes and quick returns could go a long way though!
